A bit about Rog and Lyndzee of EPlove

We shoot separately. We shoot together. We have a vintage store in our garage. We have thrift stores on our bodies. We love our clients and their passion for photography. We're inspired by inspirational things. We have vegan friends. We believe in "dibs". We order things online. We live an analog/digital life. We develop our own lives. We develop our own film. We photograph what we see. . . Show us something.

Many of you don’t know that I teach an online film photography class and it’s open for registration right now (until Monday April 8th) for only $250. It’s a 4 week class and the intro info I wrote goes something like this:

Inspiration is a direct consequence of living life with a camera in your hands. When you have a button under your finger that can take a moment and freeze it for a hundred years or more, you’ll find yourself seeing beauty in even the most forgettable moments. It is our decision what medium we choose to remember our lives.
We practically live in the future, being able to see and perfect an image only seconds after we take it, and then send it out to literally thousands of people at once. It’s an unbelievable opportunity that I’m glad I can be a part of, but…

…what happens when we take the batteries out? What happens when we turn the power off? What happens when we shoot for us, and only those people close enough to touch? Taking a photo for posterity, and for the heritage in your heart. To share something special by opening a box that used to hold shoes, but now holds your whole life as you’ve seen it with your own eyes. To me, this is remarkable. To me, this is worthwhile.

My class is about experimenting with a new medium. It’s about being comfortable with change and uncertainty. It’s about photographing the forgettable moments and finding yourself in the love that you have for others. It’s about taking the unknown, loading it with film and giving inspiration a place to live.

Everyday I look through a viewfinder, and expose life to my film. In this class I will teach you how to do the same.

This class is a collaboration with the others in the class. We will make something together through our photos. I will not teach you basic photography. I will teach you in-depth film types, film cameras, and film processing. SLRs, TLRs, Rangefinders, pinholes, half frames, point and shoots, toy and all types of working polaroids. I’ll save you time by telling you which cameras you can use that still have film available. I will also teach you how to process a roll of Black and white film in your kitchen sink.

Shooting film in my personal life doesn’t set me apart from other photographers, It just helps me find the heritage in my heart, as well as helps me define my creative ability to feel free to change my style with every camera, lens and film.

Generally I make photos on film with older cameras HERE and Here, but for this trip I took a Canon A2 that I got on eBay for $20 and a couple of my EF lenses that I use for weddings (digital photos). Flew to Australia for a wedding and stayed with some of the best people I know Todd and Alyda. I love them for their friendship and hospitality, and had the most glorious time there. Jeff, Dan, Kelly, Christine and Jonas were there as well. The laughter we shared over international accents and the cheese and crackers is unbeatable. Thank you guys for your overwhelmingly comfortable hospitality. I love you all.

All of these photos were taken with Portra 400 35mm film. Kodak is my favorite. It’s the Wayne Gretzky of the film world.

So I’m like all “Hey Denver, you’ve got some new friends. It’s the friggin Willinghams!”. Drew and Angela flew me out to take some photos for their killer new site. I tried to talk them out of it, but they wouldn’t listen. Now I’m making them pay for their decision.

Our friends The Kaisers from the Image is Found, cabin guested us for a few days and I shot film of them and the triplings (kids). 35mm’s of all sorts. Some color Kodak max, some Ilford HP5, some fuji Acros and a little Kodak tmax.

Although I shot real film and scanned on an Epson V600, I used the very films that were inspired by the digital VSCO film packs ; )  (an excellent digital photography tool! Please check it out so this shameless product blog post plug doesn’t go to waste).

I have been blessed by you. Since the moment we met my life has been filled with light. A light so profound that nothing can break me down. I am convinced that you are without a doubt, the only man that could ever put up with me and my flightyness, my moods, and my insecurities, in which you make dissapear with the slightest compliment or hug.  You always have to hear about my ‘new ideas’ and ‘projects’ that I don’t always finish,, or even start for that matter. But nevertheless, you share your ideas with me and help me to become better at whatever it is I am attempting. You are the most whitty, silly, genuine, loving, most talented man I know. I have seen firsthand the effect that you have on others. An unearthly gift of inspiring and bringing out the best in people. I am so blessed to have you by my side. You are an amazing father to our children. When I look at them I see you. In their looks, their spirits, and most of all in their personalities. I love knowing that you’ll always be there for them. I don’t ever have to worry that you’ll let them down or hurt them. My whole life I wanted to marry a man who would treat me well, respect me, and be the kind of father to our children that I never had. I got that with you and I will forever thank Heavenly Father for bringing you to me. I love everything about you. The good, the bad, and the annoying. ;)

Roger, I love you with all that I have.

Happy Anniversary!!

love, your wifey
